SUMMARY – 5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS
2 nights - Highlander Hotel, Mount Hagen
2 nights - Base Camp, Mt. Giluwe
DAY 1
Upon arrival in Port Moresby, our staff will meet/greet you and transfer you to your onward flight to Mount Hagen. Upon arrival in Mount Hagen, you will be met by our staff and transferred to Highlander Hotel.
Overnight: Highlander Hotel (--D)
DAY 2
Early morning transfer from Highlander Hotel to Maike (Starting point). Your porters and guides will meet you on arrival. Walk through villages, food gardens, and forest until you reach the Base Camp.
Overnight: Base Camp (BLD)
DAY 3
Early morning breakfast and start your journey from the base camp to the summit of Mt. Giluwe. (It will take you approximately 4 hours). At the summit you will see a flag raised by explorers, alpine grasses, ferns, flowers and magnificent views of the Highlands region in Papua New Guinea. Return from the Summit back to base camp (it will take you approximately 2 hours).
Overnight: Base Camp (BLD)
DAY 4
Early morning breakfast and start your journey back to the pick-up point (Maike). It take 4-5 hours trek back down to the vehicle. Your vehicle will be waiting there for you to return to Mt. Hagen. You will be dropped off at your hotel.
Overnight: Highlander Hotel (BLD)
DAY 5
Transfer from Highlander Hotel to Kagamuga Airport for your domestic/commercial flight back to Port Moresby. Upon arrival in Port Moresby you will be met by our staff and assist you to your international flight back home. (B--)
